Here’s where NRS shines – to prevent this kind of rust damage, NRS uses burrs to lock the friction pad to the galvanized backing plate mechanically. Only the NRS and OE pads showed no rust, passing the test.
Shear Resistance
For shear testing, pressure is applied to the friction pad until it’s removed from the backing plate. Most pads fail at the adhesive point, making the adhesive the weakest link.
Mechanical burr locks like those patented by NRS are the key to their strength and longevity. They create a bond between the friction material and the back plate that’s much stronger than adhesive, and isn’t broken by heat.
Quiet Operation
For noise testing, the various pads were subjected to many stopping cycles, and sound decibels were measured. The NRS and OE pads were the quietest performers.
